Lauren completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at Charles Sturt University Orange in 2019. Since completing her degree, Lauren has gained experience working with acute sports injury management and working sideline with Rugby Union, pain complaints in pregnancy, back pain, foot and ankle injuries as well as other general musculoskeletal and joint injuries. She loves seeing her patients achieving their goals and keeping active and strong in whatever form they enjoy!

Lauren enjoys exercising at the gym, reformer pilates and has recently completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training course. Outside the clinic you might find her on a walk around the Lake, playing sport or with her nose in a good novel.

Jess completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra in 2021. Since then, she has been working in private practice. Her approach is patient-centred, and she enjoys empowering people to take care of their health and injuries.

Prior to that, Jess obtained Certificates III & IV in Fitness through the AIS, which allows her to approach clients’ management with an additional awareness and set of skills in the area of fitness.

Jess treats a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and enjoys using dry needling and hydrotherapy programs as part of her well-rounded approach to Physiotherapy.

Jess is passionate about all things feet, ankles, and balance. She is registered as a “The Foot Collective” Pro, having undergone additional training and experience with natural foot and ankle function using a barefoot approach.

Whilst teaching pre and post-natal exercise classes, Jess developed a special interest in pelvic health and began additional training in the field. She treats a range of women’s pelvic health concerns and is particularly passionate about perineal massage, mastitis, and pelvic pain.

Outside of work, Jess loves reading, cuddling her cat Clarabel, drinking coffee, running, snowboarding, and stand-up paddle boarding.

Hugh completed a Master of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra in 2022, after completing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science in 2017. He has developed a strong interest in treating all musculoskeletal conditions, sporting injuries, and post-operative rehabilitation. Hugh believes in combining targeted exercise prescription, manual techniques and patient education to help achieve your goals. Outside of work Hugh enjoys playing badminton and golf. He also enjoys the gym, running, swimming and traveling.

Kuk Jin completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra in 2018. He has a passion for treating chronic musculoskeletal conditions and helping patients live a healthy lifestyle. Kuk Jin has been working in the aged care industry for 2 years, private practice for 4 years, and is also working as a rehabilitation consultant in the workers compensation industry. Kuk Jin also enjoys treating children and has a Diploma in Childcare Education. Outside of the clinic, Kuk Jin enjoys playing tennis, board games and going bouldering.

Jen is a pelvic health physiotherapist currently completing her specialty Masters through the University of Curtin. She has 3 years clinical experience working with patients with general musculoskeletal injuries and pelvic health conditions. Her special interest is pregnancy-related injuries and conditions.

When she’s not at work you can find Jen begging her housemate to let her get a puppy or training for ultra marathons.

Jen is one of our Pilates instructors and is always delighting in coming up with new exercises. She is particularly fond of relentless clams.

Uta completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) at Sydney University in 1991. She worked in the public hospital systems in Newcastle and Canberra and moved into private practice in 1994. Uta is married with three fabulous children and took time off to raise her family. She enjoys treating a wide variety of musculoskeletal problems with a special interest in neck and shoulder pain. Uta enjoys spending time with family and friends and getting away to the beach.

Chelsea completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra in 2018, after completing a Bachelor of Science (Sport Science) in 2014. Chelsea also holds a Certificate III and IV in Fitness from the Australian Institute of Personal Trainers and has a ten-year background in martial arts, specialising in taekwondo. Chelsea has a keen interest in the role of strength training in treating musculoskeletal conditions and is one of our Clinical Pilates instructors. Outside of the clinic, Chelsea enjoys attempting to grow indoor plants and spending time on the beaches of Jervis Bay with her husband and dog Pringle.

Grant Sutherland is the principal physiotherapist and a partnered owner of Hawker Place Physiotherapy & Pilates. Grant has been in the Health and Fitness industry for over 25 years, working across the Strength and Conditioning, Exercise Science, Pilates and Physiotherapy industries. Before moving to the Canberra region he was the Director of Health and Fitness for Solar Springs Health Retreat in Bundanoon, a position he held for 12 years.

In 2018, Grant took over Hawker Place Physiotherapy and Pilates, cementing his commitment and passion to assisting others achieve their physical goals. Grant enjoys the opportunity to create a safe environment where his staff and their patients can collaborate to identify whatever physical ailment they are experiencing and unlock a pathway to recovery. 

Having previously competed Nationally in Strongman events and being heavily involved in the lifting and fitness community for the past 25 years, Grant is passionate about the benefits both physically and emotionally that strength and conditioning can provide. As such he is always willing to share his experience and knowledge with all lifters from the beginner to the seasoned veteran lifter to help them to continue their journey in strength.

When Grant is not at the clinic, he enjoys planting thousands of trees on his property in Bywong, tending his heritage cider apple orchard, creating magical stories with his son and doting over his beloved daughter.

Ali completed his Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree from the University of Canberra in 2022. Ali has a keen interest in treating sporting injuries and returning athletes back to their sports as quickly and as safely as possible. He loves working with clients to achieve their goals whether it’s getting stronger or decreasing pain levels. Ali also speaks and communicates fluently in both English and Arabic which can help provide his clients with a more comprehensive understanding of their injuries and their management plan. 

Outside of work, you will find Ali playing soccer, going to the gym or watching movies (big horror fan!)

He has an interest in climbing and bouldering related injuries, as well as assisting patients with rehabilitation post surgery to maximise function. David aims to motivate patients beyond initial rehabilitation for future injury prevention and self-management. Outside work, you will find him climbing, bouldering, trail running or spending time with his partner and dog, Bo.
