At Hawker Place Physiotherapy and Pilates, our team of physiotherapists and support staff aim to provide the highest standard of care for our clients in a safe, professional and friendly environment.

We want you to have a very positive experience and feel glad you came through our doors. As a team we support, respect and encourage each other.  As a team we work together to support, respect and encourage our clients to achieve their goals.

It is our aim to remain up to date with evidence based best practice in all aspects of our musculo-skeletal treatments. Accordingly, we hold regular in house workshops and attend accredited external professional courses throughout the year.

Investing in higher knowledge in all aspects of our profession means we can deliver the best possible treatment outcomes for our clients.

Grant Sutherland Hawker Place Physiotherapy
Grant Sutherland

Grant Sutherland is the principal physiotherapist and a partnered owner of Hawker Place Physiotherapy & Pilates. Grant has been in the Health and Fitness industry for over 15 years, working across Strength and Conditioning, Exercise Science, Pilates and now Physiotherapy.

Jennifer Kellett

Jennifer Kellett established Hawker Place Physiotherapy in 1991 and is the former principle practitioner. Jennie has served the local communities of Belconnen and North Canberra with commitment and pride for over 23 years. She is a strong advocate for maintaining fitness, health and well being across all age groups and has a keen professional interest in combining Pilates with weight training for treating postmenopausal women at risk of osteoporosis.

Ashley Currall Hawker Place Physiotherapy
Ashley Currall

Ashley grew up in Lake Macquarie near Newcastle before moving to Canberra to study a Bachelor of Applied Science (Human Biology). Upon completion of this award she progressed onto study a Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra.

Julia Herbert Hawker Place Physiotherapy
Julia Herbert

Julia completed a Bachelor of Medical Science at the Australian National University and a Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra. Julia is committed to evidence based practice and is keen to further her studies in physiotherapy. She has completed her Clinical Pilates training and is now a Certified APPI Clinical Pilates Instructor. Recently she has begun her training in Women’s Health Physiotherapy and is hoping to complete her Masters in Women’s Health in the near future.

Alexandra Long Hawker Place Physiotherapy
Alexandra Long

Alex Long completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy with Honours at the University of Canberra, completing practical work in Canberra, rural NSW and Perth. Alex has a keen interest in Pilates, resulting in the completion of an Honours thesis in this area. She is also currently undertaking Pilates training with the APPI.

Uta Mitchell Hawker Place Physiotherapy
Uta Mitchell

Uta completed a Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) at Sydney University in 1991. She worked in the public hospital systems in Newcastle and Canberra and moved into private practice in 1994.

Leanne Wright Hawker Place Physiotherapy
Leanne Wright

Leanne completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra after completing practical placements in both private practices and hospitals throughout Canberra and in surrounding rural communities. Leanne is also a certified Pilates instructor and has a keen interest in the benefits of exercise for injury and health. 

Chelsea Barker Hawker Place Physiotherapy
Chelsea Barker

Chelsea completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2018. Before that, she completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Canberra in 2014. Chelsea also holds a Certificate III and IV in Fitness and has a ten-year background in martial arts, specialising in taekwondo.

Dr Irmina Nahon

Irmina is Assistant Professor, Clinical Education Coordination at the University of Canberra and is now working privately as a pelvic floor specialist physiotherapist.Irmina is currently the President of the ACT branch of the Continence Foundation of Australia, and also an active member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association’s Continence and Women’s Health group.

Shannon Kellett Hawker Place Physiotherapy
Shannon Kellett

Shannon Kellett is the Practice Manager at Hawker Place Physiotherapy and Pilates. She sometimes does things when she is here. Most times she is away, living it up in the Great Barrier Reef, or Byron Bay, or Newcastle, or Singapore... hard life.
